Ed is a recently retired veterinarian who is chair of the Board of Directors of Sheet Harbour Radio Society and one of the co-managing Directors in the operational team.  Ed has over 35 years of experience working with organizations in not-for-profit management.

Ed’s professional experience included practice ownership, working in the livestock genetics industry and owning and operating a project management and consulting business.  Experience related to this project particularly involve the management of large national projects in Canada which involved more than one livestock commodity, provincial and federal governments and both animal and public health as primary stakeholders.  These projects were multi-year projects aimed at enhancing the animal health and welfare system in Canada by engaging partner and moving toward a changed regulatory environment.  In addition, Ed had experience working internationally for the genetics industry on technology transfer projects in China, Russia, Ukraine, Dominican Republic and Egypt and provided leadership for the health committee of the Canadian Association of Animal Breeders.

In Sheet Harbour Radio, Ed has found an outlet for community development and engaging with youth and adults in the community in technology, music and community development.

Mark S. Krause

Mark Has spent the majority of his career working as a production manager of live theatrical production for 35 years, both on Broadway and with tours around the world. During the course of this work he has managed productions employing between 40 and 120 people.

After his retirement from theater he worked as a professor at Transylvania University in Lexington,Kentucky for 7 years, teaching a variety of courses in the Theater Arts Division. During this time Mark was able to work as a consultant for a variety of theatrical projects, as well as designing productions for theatrical touring.

Now happily retired again, Mark devotes his energy to local causes on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. This includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Gerald Hardy Memorial Society, The Eastern Shore Cooperator the Sheet Harbour and Area Chamber of Commerce and Civic Affairs and the Sheet Harbour Radio Society. Perhaps the projects in which he takes the most pride is the establishment of the Sheet Harbour Radio Society and the creation of a Community Garden in Sheet Harbour.

Vicki Crowell – Senior Account Executive

Vicki joined the SH Radio team in November  of 2017 to work within the NS Age Friendly Communities grant received by SH Radio to expand our reach in the community.

Vicki was born and raised in Sheet Harbour, and had varied career experience including being a certified CCA.  Vicki found that Sheet Harbour is like the song “Hotel California”, Sheet Harbour has a mystical way of allowing you to “check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.” Which always seemed to pull her back to her roots, sense of community and the smell of the ocean which is not one you can obtain in a bottle. Her love for family, friends, music and community are the reasons she returned to her hometown. Vicki is an anti bullying advocate, gender equality enthusiast, anti domestic violence enthusiast/advocate, Mental Health advocate and truly believes in equality for all, a voice for the voiceless. Her position with SH Radio is an added bonus!

Music has always been a huge part of Vicki’s life.  Vicki believes music can be an avenue for so many who struggle with simply finding a “niche” with which they can identify.

Vicki’s role with SH radio happens with a love for music and people. Vicki enjoys a smile, a laugh and at the end of the day, knowing you made a difference no matter the size is one of the most gratifying feelings one can embrace. If she hasn’t had a chat or chuckle with you, she certainly looks forward to doing so.

Roscoe, or DJ_Tex, is a Port Dufferin resident and DMHS Class of 2017 graduate who has been with Sheet Harbour Radio since its inception. During the September-April season, Roscoe is a full time Bachelor of Arts student at StFX with the aspiration of one day achieving his long-held goal of becoming a Professor of History. Though History is his first passion, his close second is assisting Sheet Harbour Radio as it grows in any way he can. One of those ways is by conducting interviews with folks of different backgrounds, from politicians to musicians. Roscoe hosts The DJ_Tex Show along with it’s companion show, The DJ_Tex Wake Up Shake Up as well as The Locals.

Vanessa L.  – Producer

Vanessa hosts the show called The Public on SH Radio. It plays from 12:00pm-2:00pm. Requests are taken for songs people would like to hear, whether it be for a special occasion, or just for your own personal pleasure.

Music is important to Vanessa … listening, creating and seeing others enjoy it. She is open to different genres and recognizes that music touches us all differently.

Vanessa is a graduate of Duncan MacMillan High School in Sheet Harbour. She is a knitter and donates some of her work to the IWK Hospital in Halifax and crisis response programs. She also enjoys writing fiction stories, as well as some based on historical events or persons, and creating art.
